about

We have wanted to write a musical tribute to Critical Role for quite some time. "willing" is based on the 44th episode, The Sunken Tomb, which was, without a doubt, one of the most powerful and plot-rocking moments in the whole show.

lyrics

Willing
I am willing

Clutching in a cold embrace
An object with my sister’s face
I’m willing

Silence
Empty violence
There had only been seconds between
Victory and suffering
And silence

And long ago I settled on
The things that I would pay
It’s my sister first
Then everything else stumbling behind
Some other’s life
A friend or wife
I’d give them all away
To keep her breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing
How dare you think of leaving?

And I’m willing
I am willing
I offer myself to your grace
A pittance in my sister’s place
I’m willing

Silence
Empty violence
Do you hear me you raven bitch
Ignore the bait and take the switch
This is all I have to offer witch

And long ago I settled on
The things that I would pay
And I knew, I knew, I knew
Someday I’d pay the price myself
So, I give my knife
I give my life
I give them all away
to keep her breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing
Keep breathing

And silence
And silence

And silence
A shadow bearing at my back
And silence
Then a gasp heard cutting through the black
A siren’s song
Mere seconds long
A ballad of revival
A pause
And then she breathes again
With the promise of reprisal

And she laughs. Laughs.
And I don’t know what to say
With grief swimming in my chest
And stirring in my back
So I give, I give
I give it all away

I’m willing
Clutching in a warm embrace
Seeing my sister’s face
I was willing
I was willing
I was willing
